A herbaceous perennial native to the eastern United States. Purple flowers in late July and August. Liatris is a good cut flower and is attractive to birds and butterflies. Grow in full sun in well drained soil. Intolerant of wet soil in winter. Use in perennial borders, cottage gardens and native plant areas. 2 to 4 feet tall. Hardy in zones 3-8. Plants are shipped in 3.5-inch containers.
