Description
Red Buckeye ‘Aesculus pavia’
A striking deciduous shrub with both wonderful foliage – big green palmate leaves—and beautiful flowers that are like magnets for hummingbirds. These vivid showy red-scarlet flowers appear in early spring just in time for the arrival of the hummingbirds. Red Buckeye can be trained to a single trunk tree reaching heights of 15-20’ or left as a large shrub. It loves part shade but tolerates sun, moist to semi-dry, though if in full sun it might go dormant early and lose it’s leaves if very dry. Excellent specimen plants, back of borders, small groupings. Plants are shipped in one gallon containers Zone 6-9.
