Description
Anise, Illicium floridanum
This is such a beautiful evergreen colony-forming shrub with thick leathery dark green leaves. It grows naturally in wet areas though it will also thrive with moderate water particularly in shade to part shade. The flowers in spring are dark maroon red. Anise is useful as a hedge, privacy screen, larger foundation plant and/or specimen planting. Height: 6-12’. Zone 7-9.
