Description

Vanilla Strawberry Hydrangea or Hydrangea paniculata ‘Renhy’ VANILLA STRAWBERRY,

is a deciduous shrub or tree.  While either formation is possible, it grows larger as a shrub, while retaining a single trunk with a smaller plant size as a tree.  Before late summer the foliage sits in an upright position before it starts to arch due to the weight of the flowers when they bloom to about 7′ tall and 5′ wide.  These flowers bloom white and then mature into a pink reddish tone while some petals keep some of the other colors presenting a beautiful white, pink, and reddish flower.  They retain their color for a few weeks until the turn brown and fall.  This colorful plant is what makes it so unique as a hydrangea, earning its title Vanilla Strawberry because of its white and reddish tone flowers making it look like a strawberry dipped in vanilla.  Being a deciduous plant both flowers and leaves fall off during the fall an come back during the spring time with its bloom in early summer.  It grows 6-8ft tall and 4-5 ft wide.  It needs full sun and partial shade with medium amounts of water and well-drained soil such as Loam to grow best.  This plant is shipped in a 1-gallon container.
