Salix matsudana ‘Tortuosa’
The curly willow or corkscrew willow tree is very popular and that may be partially due to its unique pattern of branches which twist and turn. Branches grow upwards, almost parallel to the trunk before spreading out horizontally in a twisted and contorted fashion. This fast growing shade tree has yellow catkins in the spring which give away to long green leaves and lemon yellow fall color. The twisted branches provide winter interest. Because of the aggressive root system, keep away from water lines and sewer lines. Plant in full sun to partial shade. Height: 25 feet tall and wide. Hardy in zones 4-8. Plants are shipped in a 1 gallon container.
