Punica granatum ‘Wonderful’
Wonderful is a vigorous and very productive pomegrante. It is the leading commercial variety. The large red fruit ripens in September and October. The arils are bright red and delicious in salads, desserts, eaten fresh or juice. Pomegranates are a very ornamental deciduous, self-fruitful shrub or small tree. Orange flowers appear in spring to early summer followed by the fruit. Trees are on their own roots and will be 7-10 feet tall at maturity. Requires 500 hours of chilling. Plant in full sun for best fruit production but can take some shade. Hardy in zones 7-10. Plants are shipped in 1 gallon containers.
