Hydrangea quercifolia ‘Snowflake’

This chance seedling discovered by Eddie Aldrich and his father in 1969 in the Alabama woods has achieved world fame. It can be seen in gardens around the world. The double white flowers resemble snowflakes and appear on long panicles of 12 to15 inches in the early summer. The flowers are long lasting and turn a lovely pink color as they dry. The leaves turn burgundy in the fall and when they fall off the exfoliating bark is exposed which adds winter interest. Plant in borders, naturalize at the edge of the woods or use as a specimen plant. Height: 6 to 10 feet tall and wide. Plant in full sun or part shade.  Hardy in zones 5-9. Plants are shipped in 1 gallon containers.
