Description

Dwarf Fothergilla or Fothergilla Mt. Airy,

is a deciduous shrub that is known for its three beautiful characteristics.  First, it’s terminal bottlebrush white blooms in the spring that produce a strong honey fragrance.  Second, it’s excellent green foliage in the summer.  Lastly, its fall color leaves that change into a beautiful red, orange, and yellow colors.  These three characteristics make this plant a special kind as it has something beautiful to look at throughout most of the seasons.  It is resistant to most deer browsing and is good in cottage gardens, shaded shrub boarders, being used as a low hedge, or used in a sensory garden for its strong honey smell.  It has a hardiness zone of 5-9 so it can be planted in most areas of the United States, except for the coldest areas.  It grows 3-6ft high and 3-5ft wide.  It needs full sun with partial shade, medium amounts of water, with well-drained, moist, acid (<6.0), and high organic matter soil.  It attracts bees making it good for pollination.  It is shipped in a 1-gallon container.
