Wax Myrtle, Southern Bayberry, Morella cerifera
Typically a large, evergreen, multistemmed shrub but can also be trained to a small tree. It can get 15-20’ tall and nearly as wide. As a shrub, wax myrtle is outstanding in hedges or privacy screens. It is adaptable, widely used , easy to grow, tolerant of abuse and widely grown in shady and sunny locations. The small grey wax covered fruit is an important source of fat and fiber for more than 40 species of birds. Zone 7-9. Plants are shipped in 1 gallon containers.
