Pyrus communis ‘Orient’
A hard pear that is used for canning and cooking. Orient is very productive as well as ornamental. The fruits ripen in late August and have yellow skin with firm juicy flesh with a mild flavor. The fruit keeps well. Our trees are grafted on Calleryana root stock and will be 15 to 20 feet tall. Plant in full sun in well drained soil. Needs a pollinator and a good choice would be Kieffer. Hardy in zones 5-9. Trees are 3 gallon size and are shipped bare root.
