Longleaf Pine or Pinus Palustris,

is a needled evergreen that grows 60-120ft.  The trunk of the tree can be very narrow but as the pine tree grows the top of it can get 30-40ft wide.   The top of this tree is not uniformed, varying its shape from tree to tree.  It produces pinecones that are the largest in the US.  The pine needles grow about a foot long.  It is native to the southern areas of the US, from Texas to Florida.  It grows in full sun and clay or sandy well-drained soils.  For the first 5 years of its growth, it will remain in a grass like stage until the stem has enough time to grow, then allowing the tree to begin to form.  It has a hardiness of 7-9 making only suitable for the mid to southern states of the US.  This tree is shipped in a 1-gallon container.
