Ziziphus Jujuba ‘GA 866′

The jujube is native to China and is also known as the Chinese date.  The red/mahogany colored fruit ripens in mid-September.  The fruit has a sweet apple flavor and very high sugar content.  It may be either eaten fresh or dried.  This deciduous tree has lovely glossy leaves with yellow fall color and makes a wonderful shade tree.  Height at maturity 15 to 25 feet.  Jujubes are self-fruitful but will be more productive with another variety nearby. Plant in full sun in well drained soil.   Heat and drought tolerant.  Requires 400-600 hours of chilling.  Hardy in zones 6-9. The trees are 5 gallon size and are shipped bare root.
