Texas Tarragon or Artemisia Dracunculus
is a perennial herb that sprouts gold blooms. The size of the blooms are small and are grown in clusters with 3-5 petals that are half an inch across. It blooms late spring and early fall. Texas Tarragon is mostly known for its culinary purposes. It must be consumed in small amounts as larger consumptions can be harmful. It is often used in teas and to color foods. It is much smaller than the French Tarragon growing to a height between 0.5-2.5 ft tall on leafy stems. It grows best in full sun with well-drained soil. Touching the juice, sap, or thorns can cause irritation on the skin. Washing the skin with soap as soon as possible will help minimize its effect.
