Ctirus unshiu ‘Owari”

A cold hardy mandarin orange with a wonderful sweet tangerine like flavor. The fruit begins to ripen about mid November.  Owari is an ancient variety grown in Japan for hundreds of years and is one of the most popular mandarins grown in the United States.  Owari is on Flying Dragon trifoliata rootstock.  It will flower and bear fruit next year.  Best grown in a whiskey barrel size container in areas with severe winters.  They will reach 5 to 6 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide when grown in a container.  Plant cold hardiness at 28F but if there is fruit on the tree it will freeze at 32F.  Plant in full sun in well drained soil.  Hardy in zones 9-10. Plants are 3 gallon size and shipped bare root.  Sorry we cannot ship citrus trees to Arizona, California, Texas, Louisiana or Florida.
