Ficus carica ‘Brown Turkey’
Brown Turkey is one of the most cold hardy figs. It has the ability to fruit on new growth if the top is killed by a winter freeze. Small to medium sized light brown to violet skin fruit with strawberry colored pulp. The fruit has excellent mild sweet flavor. Top shaped to oblique, mostly without neck. A small eye has reddish color from a very early stage. Plant in full sun in well drained soil. Figs can be grown in sandy as well as clay soils. Height to 20 feet. Self-fertile. Hardy in zones 6-10. Can be grown as a container plant for your deck or patio. Plants are shipped in 1 gallon containers.
