Vitis sp. ‘Venus’
Venus is a self-fertile purple/black seedless grape delevoped by the University of Arkansas. It has large fruit with a mild flavor a combination of muscat and labrusca. It makes a fine table grape as well as jelly, juice or wine. It is not resistant to Pierce’s disease which kills French type grapes when grown from Birmingham south. Requires 200-600 chilling hours. Plant in full sun in well drained soil. Hardy in zones 5-8. Plants are shipped in 1 gallon containers.
