Vaccinium ashei ‘Centurion’
Originated at North Carolina State University. It is widely adapted across southeast (all of Alabama) southward to coldest areas of Florida panhandle. It requires 700 hours of chilling that is , 45 degrees fahrenheit and below. Harvest season, at Petals, is from June 25 to August 5. It is a mostly upright plant to somewhat spreading. Has low to moderate number of canes per plant. The fruit is medium size with good firmness. Has latest harvest among rabbiteye varieties. Plant in full sun in well drained acid soil with a ph of 4.2 to 5.5. Hardy in zones 7-9. Plants are shipped in one gallon containers.
