Rosa wichuraina ‘Memorial Rose’ Late 1800
Valued as a garden plant itself R. wichuraina is best known as the parent of some famous hybrid roses such as ‘Dorothy Perkins, ‘Alberic Barbier’ and ‘Albertine’. This vigorous rose has shiny semi-evergreen leaves, white single petaled flowers with yellow stamens in the spring which are followed by small red rose hips. Used as a ground cover it will form an impenetrable barrier. It will also ramble up large trees. Height 15 to 20 feet. Plant in full sun in well drained soil. Hardy in zones 6-9. Plants are sold in 1 gallon containers.
