Diospyros kaki ‘Fuyu’
Fuyu is the most well known of the Kaki or Oriental type persimmons grown in the US. Fuyu matures its fruit about mid October in Central Alabama. Like other Kaki persimmon it is self-fruitful and produces seedless fruit with outstanding flavor. The fruit are non-astringent and may be eaten while firm. Fuyu can be grown in Zones 8-10. Trees are 15 to 20 ft tall at maturity. Plants are 5 gallon size and are shipped bare root.
