Description
Green Velvet Boxwood or Buxus ‘Green Velvet’,
is an evergreen shrub or small tree that can easily be formed into a hedge. It grows 2-3ft tall and 2-3ft wide making it a small shrub. It needs full sun and partial shade but too much sun will scorch it and it will need light shade occasionally during the day. Too much shade will cause it to stunt in growth. It grows best in moist well drained loams (e.g. sandy-clay mixture) and should be planted in a location shielded from strong winds. Too much sun or wind can cause this plant to brown. It blooms pale green flowers in April that blend in with the rest of the shrub. It has a hardiness zone of 5-8 so it needs to be planted in milder climates in the United States.
