Salvia officinalis “Purple’
Although this sage does not differ greatly from the common sage except for the color of the leaves. It is a good culinary herb as well as a handsome plant for the border and container plantings. Leaves can be used either fresh or dried. Plant in full sun in well drained soil. Height is 15 to 24″ tall and wide. Drought tolerant once established and deer resistant. Spikes of purple flowers appear in spring which are very attractive to honeybees and butterflies. Hardy in zones 5-9. Plants are shipped i 3.5″ containers.
