The leaves of this plant are often used in Mexican cuisine to flavor tamales, soups, chicken and fish. The leaves are an essential ingredient in Mole verde. This plant has large leaves and a root beer like fragrance when the leaves are crushed. Needs moist soil and partial shade to full shade. Can be grown outdoors in summer. Tender perennial. Hardy in zones 9-11. Plants are shipped in 3.5″ containers.
