Description

Hydrangea quercifolia ‘Alice’

Large panicles of white flowers in early spring make ‘Alice’ a pretty showy plant. Alice was chosen by horticulturist Michael Dirr of the University of Georgia as a seedling, She was the winner of the Georgia Gold Medal for Shrub of the Year as a superior oakleaf hydrangea selection. The flowers are large, composed of large sterile flowers that cover smaller fertile flowers. The leaves turn a burgundy red in the fall and when the leaves drop they expose the exfoliating bark which provides winter interest. Height: 12 feet tall and wide  Plant in full sun to part shade in moist soil.  Hardy in zones 5-9.  Plants are shipped in one gallon containers.
