Marrubium vulgare
Horehound is a member of the mint family whose leaves and flowers have been used to flavor candy and beverages. As a medicinal herb it has been used as and expectorant and to relieve coughs. It is thought to have antiseptic properties. Hardy 3 ft shrub with lovely gray green foliage. White flowers 1/2 inches in summer. Plant in full sun in well drained soil. This old medicinal herb deserves a place in the garden. Hardy in zones 4-8. Plants are shipped in 3.5′ containers.
