Instructor Susan K. Hagen, Ph.D
Mary Collette Munger Professor Emerita of English Birmingham Southern College.

From bloom time to leaf shape, this program outlines things to consider
when designing a perennial border for home gardens.  Richly illustrated
with photo examples from well-known gardens and with examples of suggested plants—especially Southeastern natives—the presentation covers plant size, spacing, color, and texture among other considerations.
Susan K. Hagen retired as professor of medieval literature and from serving as associate provost of Birmingham-Southern College in August, 2017.  Since then, she has focused her energies on her blog After Eden, which investigates the cultural and horticultural significance of gardens.  She has also been publishing nature-centered poetry, in particular the collection Shall We Dance? with Antrim House Books.  Additionally, as Master Gardener, she has been active in giving presentations on native plants, pollinators, and international gardens.
